The beauty of EstimatorXpress is that you don’t need bags of estimating experience although clearly knowing your way round a set of building plans helps! EstimatorXpress comes with a fantastic set of estimating tools, all designed to making estimating simple.
EstimatorXpress is designed to be super simple. Simply pick a template from the estimating software library (the software comes out of the box with around 200 estimating templates set up for you). Then enter your dimensions and tweak any default measurements which have been pre-selected for you, refine the specification and that’s your estimate done.
The software has done all the spadework. As you enter your dims, and tweak your specification, estimating calculators are busily pricing up materials, labour, plant, wear and tear, and wastage, showing you the live total cost as you go.
Templates for renovations, extensions and new builds
There are hundreds of residential construction project templates, from garages to houses, lean-to single storey extensions to Apex roof double storey extensions. Pre-loaded templates are one of a number of options for estimating.
The software works out all the calculations
As you enter the dimensions, and tweak the specification preferences and resources on screen, the estimating calculators price up materials, labour, plant, wear and tear, and wastage, showing the total cost - live.
An intuitive dashboard
We’re not talking the Starship Enterprise here, but we think the mission-control style dashboard is very clever. You can check on the status of a job - such as what estimates need chasing up, what quotes need finishing, what client jobs are starting soon and so on.
Less time number-crunching. 100% accurate estimates
You can complete an estimate for renovation or extension work in less than thirty minutes – or a new build house in under an hour. For example, when estimating a pitched roof in EstimatorXpress, the software takes the project dimensions and does the number crunching to work out the lengths of the timbers, the area of the ceiling, the area of tiling, length of fascias, length of soffits and so on.
You can also build estimates up from scratch, if you want, using some of their 500 or so estimating calculators but you probably won’t need to, because there is a pre-loaded template for the vast majority of work you’ll encounter. These calculators have been tested within a inch of their lives over 20+ years and are constantly updated with changes to building regs .

Talk to us about exporting materials schedules to your IT systems
If you’d like to get really smart, you can export the materials required for the project to your ERP so you can quote your client from your standard systems, populated with all the quantities that have been estimated as required. This reduces the need to retype everything up. A real time saver. Do note that this will be subject to an additional development fee agreed in advance.

Add PlansXpress Take-off to trace plans
All the software in the HBXL Building Software suite can sync with each other and share data - which is all part of HBXL’s strategy to save time by avoiding unnecessary duplication. The technology is called X-Connex technology and it allows you to trace existing PDF plans in PlansXpress Take-off and then drop the file into EstimatorXpress. The software then reads the drawing data to create an almost instant estimate, fully costed and fully itemised scheduled of materials, plant and labour. Now that’s smart.
On board Build Program to schedule materials
The software also has an integrated, onboard Build Programme which presents the build phase activity based on the estimated labour profile from your estimate. As you make changes to your build program this cascades through the software. In this way you can produce an estimate materials ordering profile unique to this job with not only when the resources need to be on site but when they should be ordered by given the likely delivery timescales.
